BPC to Bring Art to Boston Public GardenEach Saturday in August, BPC Artists to Gather in Public Garden and Display Poster-Size Prints of Public Garden Photos BOSTON: Many people enjoy art, but few make time to go to art galleries or museums. Nearly two dozen members of the Boston Photography Center (BPC) will tackle that problem for four Saturdays in August, when they will gather in the Boston Public Garden to bring art to the public. In a fun and thought-provoking display, the artists will hold poster-sized prints of photographs they have taken of the Public Garden itself in the preceding months. "When people walk through the Public Garden and see photographers' images of that same spot at different times, it's thought-provoking," said Boston Photography Center founder Banafsheh Ehtemam. "Too often, art and photography are separated from everyday life, and we're trying to unite them again. This is a great way to build community for Boston-area photographers, and increase the audience for good-quality photography." This free event is part of the BPC's "City Projects" series, and the artists will hold their prints from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on each day the event takes place (the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th of August). This is the second year the BPC has shown art in the Public Garden.: See this year's exhibited photos. See last year's exhibited photos, and photos of the '06 installation |
